Peppermint contributes to normal gastrointestinal function, as well as to helping with indigestion, spasms and flatulence (EFSA ON HOLD 2092, 2696, 2698; Monografías EMA). Peppermint is one of the most popular herbal teas, traditionally used as a supplement for bile ducts, gas, indigestions, or spasms, among others. Its major volatile components identified in Peppermint essential oil are menthol and menthone, whose minimum content in MARNYS® Neocarbon represents 40-45% and 14-32%, respectively.
Anise, a herbaceous plant of Mediterranean origin with a long history of use due to its healthy properties. This contains between 1.5 and 5% of essential oil used by traditional herbology as a flavouring and digestive agent. The Aniseed essence in MARNYS® Neocarbon contains a minimum trans-anethole content of 87%, its most important bioactive constituent.
The activated charcoal in MARNYS® Neocarbon is of plant origin with a minimum adsorption power of 40%, being pure and coming from coconut shells especially processed to turn them into a highly gas-adsorbing element.
MARNYS® Neocarbon is an ideal supplement for those who want to favour normal gastrointestinal function, relieving excess gas, especially after heavy meals, excess fat intake, or poor digestion, among others.

The physical and chemical processes of digestion cause gases. The first part of digestion is produced in the stomach by normal or involuntary swallowing of ambient air, including swallowing saliva. The second part is produced in the large intestine where the bacterial flora causes chemical reactions originating gases.
Adsorption is the process by which a porous solid (on a microscopic scale) is capable of retaining gas particles on its surface after being in contact with this gas. The adsorbent has got active centres that enable gas molecules to be installed on its surface.
The activated carbon is obtained by a process of carbonization and high-performance adsorption capacity (in order to retain the largest amount of gases). For this purpose, basic materials are used – pre-carbonized coconut shells – consisting of the following processes:
Activation in a rotary kiln at 1000 °C. After 80 hours, it is cooled in a water-cooled screw. This process increases the adsorption capacity.
The material is purified and dried according to a strict analytical control GMP certified.
The material is sprayed and homogenised, improving the contact surface for adsorption.
