The patient will continue to take 20 mg intravenously or as a tablet at bedtime, once daily. Children from 1 to 16 years old: The dose of the tablets is 0.5 mg per kg twice daily and the dose can be increased up to 1 mg per kg Maximum dose 40 mg For patients who cannot take the tablets, the medication can be taken by intravenous infusion. Intravenous doses: Infants: 0.25 - 0.5 mg per kg once daily Children 1 to 16 years of age: Initial dose 0.25 mg per kg every 12 hours (maximum dose 20 mg). Doses of up to 0.5 mg/kg every 12 hours have been used Usual Pediatric Dose for Dyspepsia: Children over 12 years: For the treatment of heartburn and stomach pain, 10-20 mg 15-60 minutes before eating, and the dose does not exceed two tablets per day. Dosage adjustment in renal disease: In moderate renal failure (creatinine clearance less than 50 mM) or severe kidney failure (creatinine clearance less than 10 mM), the dose should be halved or doses separated 36-48 hours. Dosage adjustment in hepatic disease: the dose does not need to be adjusted The presence of stomach cancer, especially in the elderly (over 50 years), should be excluded before starting famotidine treatment, as taking it may lead to a delay in diagnosis, and improvement of symptoms does not mean excluding the presence of a cancerous tumor. Continuation of treatment for a period of 6:8 weeks is usually sufficient to treat ulcers, and for the treatment of erosive esophagitis, the duration of treatment does not exceed 12 weeks. The group of H2 antagonists is not sufficient to treat upper gastrointestinal bleeding, and the US Food and Drug Administration has not authorized this use for them.
